Legali was built by lawyers with a technical background. We are lawyers at heart, even though we also develop software. So we understand the pain points.

When we started thinking about this project 5 years ago, we identified three key problems that as lawyers, we know very well.

  1. Good lawyers cannot advertise their services like lawyers in other countries
  2. Lack of proper billing standards. Some lawyers find themselves charging below their value
  3. Poor quality of continuing legal education

Unless you have a good personal network, work for an established firm, or know how to market yourself, most lawyers, especially the young ones, struggle a lot. We understand the thinking behind the restriction on advertising. Our thinking is that we can innovate our own solutions.

We have carefully studied the provisions of the rules of professional conduct applicable to lawyers in Nigeria, particularly Sections 39 s1 and 39 s4 . We have designed our directory to comply strictly with the letter and spirit of those rules, especially the policy against self aggrandisement.
